From the Director’s desk

We have had a very busy start to the year with exhibitions and events!
A big thank you to our Volunteers' Club for organising a highly successful vintage fashion parade at Booleroo Centre. An enormous amount of work went into this event and was much appreciated by everyone who went along.
We also hosted an event for Soroptomists' International who were holding their State meeting in Port Pirie. Forty guests were treated to delivious home cooked food at a sit down brunch in the surrounds of the Heysen Trail Exhibition. Thanks to volunteers. Beverley Isidro, Lorraine Chapman and Ruby Miller for preparing food, and for looking after our visitors so well.
Last week, we installed our fourth exhibition for the year - another outstanding exhibition of work by Germein Art Focus. Drop into the Gallery to catch up with their latest work before 18 April.
We have been approached by Belalie Art Gallery at Jamestown who would like to show an exhibition of works by Clan Rodda. I will be assisting them with installing the exhibition in early April. It will be on show until 9 May.
Look forward to seeing you at the Emma Horwood recital on 24 April!

New Subcommittees, Fresh Initiatives

Our new subcommittees are working well with priorities set and tasks underway for an exciting 2010.
A new sponsorship program is being developed. This will give businesses the opportunity to invest in our regional art gallery for the benefit of our community. Businesses will be invited to offer in-kind and financial support towards the Gallery's operational and exhibition costs. In return the Gallery will offer businesses new venue access and marketing opportunities.
Our fundraising target for 2009/10 has been set at $2,000. So far $687 has been raised. The Board and the Volunteers Club are planning a number of fundraising events for the year. We hope these events will bring more people to our Gallery to enjoy sharing the arts with friends.
Our first event is in April. It is a very special afternoon music recital by hapist and singer Emma Horwood, an accliamed soloist and ensemble performer visiting from Adelaide.
Any suggestions for future events please let us know. I've heard great stories about the arty farty parties of the past!
